Questions
What you ask us most
Do I need experience to apply?
It isn't required. We value people who have worked in elderly care, nursing or cleaning, but what matters most to us is commitment and vocation. There is initial training so that you are ready from day one, and if you already have experience, you can keep growing here.
What do you look for in a person?
It depends on the role, but there are four things we always ask for: empathy to connect with residents and understand what they need, responsibility for your work and for the people you care for, teamwork because care is never a one-person job, and patience to adapt to whatever the day brings. Nobody has to be perfect: being keen to learn is enough.
What is the selection process like?
It varies from centre to centre, but it usually has three steps. First you send your CV through the form on this page. Then, if you fit, we call you for an interview: we want to know why you want to work with older people, not just what's on paper. Finally, we assess your profile and give you an answer within 15 days at most.
Do you provide training?
Yes. There is initial training so you get to know the centre's procedures and way of working, specialist courses on things like caring for residents with dementia, first aid or how to move a person without hurting yourself, and regular workshops to stay up to date. And you always have a supervisor to ask.
What are the working hours?
It depends on the role and the centre. Shift rotas are handed out in advance —every centre knows its annual schedule— so you can plan ahead. And whenever possible, we adapt shifts to personal circumstances, after talking it over with the team.
Is there room for promotion?
Yes, and that's what we prefer. When a position with more responsibility opens up, we look in-house first. If you want to specialise in something, such as advanced geriatric care, we support you with training, and you'll have coordinators and supervisors to guide you.
I sent my CV and haven't heard back
It may be that there was no open process at the time or that your profile has been kept for later. We receive a huge number of applications and we read them all. Don't be discouraged, and write to us again when you see a position that suits you.
